It was designed to run on Android version 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and was capable to be upgraded to Android version 5.1 Lollipop. It was the 8th generation handheld console that was released at a starting price of $299 USD. The system on a chip used in the console was Tegra 4 which is developed by NVIDIA. Nvidia Shield Portable or N.S.P. can easily be attached with a television supporting a video quality of any of the 720p, 1080 HD or 4k UHD resolutions. You can run any P.C. game on Nvidia Shield Portable which supports GeForce GTX 650 or higher graphic card. Also, you can play games from Android’s Google Play Store. And can also play some exclusive and limited edition games available on GeForce NOW stream service and Nvidia’s home market i.e. TegraZone. You can also connect a Bluetooth joystick or keypad with it.

But in recent years, when NVIDIA Shield TV was released, it was far superior to its handheld predecessor with a streaming capability of 4K Ultra High Definition. It also supports HEVC encoded video. The console is simply to be connected to the T.V., and the controller is separate. The controller is an enhancement to the previous model, and the console comes in variations of 8 G.B. flash memory model, 16 G.B. flash memory model and 500 GB harddisk model with a microSD card reader which is expandable up to 256 GB. It also comes with 2 or G.B. A.R.M. Cortex-A 57 CPU with a clock speed of 2.4 Giga Hertz. The system on chip is NVIDIA’s home-built Tegra X1 and Tegra X1+. The console is supported by a stand which also acts as a heat sink. The console is Wi-Fi enabled and has Bluetooth 4.1, 2 USB 3.0 ports with a micro USB port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a type-C power slot.
