If someone blocked me will they still get my texts

Often we come across situations where we block someone’s contact or texts messaging or we get blocked by someone. Sometimes, to deal with irritating texts from malevolent people the best option we opt for is blocking them. Let us say you subscribed to an application on your phone, it is quite common that some of them spam you with texts to purchase the products you are not even interested in it. In those cases as well you block that number. It happened to me once.

I texted my friend after a long that and I changed my number. She assumed that I am some creep who is trying to bother her. Then she blocked my number and I had no other option than to call my other friend to call her and tell her that it was me. Afterward, she unblocked my contact and this turned into a funny memory for us friends. We cannot categorize the reasons why someone blocks you. It can be that you upset them, somehow annoyed them or it was a pure misunderstanding, similar to my situation. If your contact has been blocked then you cannot call that number. In that phone, even if I block someone,s contact I could see the texts they sent me by going to the settings and checking for blocked messages. This was six years ago. Suppose you have been blocked then text messages that you are sending that person will not be delivered. When a message is sent, you see a sent or delivered note, but that ‘sent’ or ‘delivered’ will not appear anymore. Further, that person will not see anything. All the phone calls that are made from your end will be connected automatically to voicemail.

Can you say that you have been blocked from text messages as well on Android?

To know whether your number has been blocked by someone by checking if you can send text messages or not. You can figure this out by seeing the delivery status. Generally, Android does provide features such as a message tracking system to check whether you have been blocked from text messages or not. So, unfortunately, it is undoable. There are not any third-party applications available as well that flash you a message ‘You have been blocked.’ Also, it is noteworthy that sending texts cannot be restricted unless your phone number has been blocked. How to access blocked messages?

In iPhone

In iPhone as well, you cannot certainly tell if your number has been blocked. But some revealing signs can help you find out. There are some common things about iPhone with Android that we just went through. Like if you get the note that your message has been delivered then your number has not been blocked. Nevertheless, your number may have been blocked if your phone calls are directly diverted to voicemail. Or if you do not get the ‘Delivered’ or ‘Read’ note. However, if your message is not delivered does not mean you have been blocked. It may mean that your text message is yet to be sent. Let us look at some ways to figure out if your number has been blocked and how you can know if you have been blocked in iMessage.

If you receive an automated text response, then you are not blocked

In case the other has turned on ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode or ‘Driving Focus’ mode then you will be sent an automated text. Setting automated text can be enabled if you want the other person to know that somehow you are busy. So, if you receive these messages then fortunately you have not been blocked. These auto-generated text messages are not sent to those contacts that have been blocked. So, if you receive this text then you can chill cause you have not been blocked.

If you sent a text and it was delivered then you have not been blocked

Sometimes, when ‘Do Not Disturb’ is enabled on the other person’s phone then a misunderstanding can be created that you are blocked. When you text someone while their phone is on ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode then you immediately get a delivery notification. Although, the receiver will receive the message only when they disable this mode. Nonetheless, if you have been blocked then the message will look like it has been sent but you will not receive any confirmation regarding its delivery. So, even if your message is delivered yet you do not receive a reply for some time then it does not necessarily mean that you have been blocked.

But if you don’t see the ‘Delivered’ or ‘Read’ note, then you may have been blocked

The most simple way to figure out that you have been blocked on any phone is that you will not see the ‘delivered’ or ‘read’ notification below your text. However, it is only possible if communication is made between two iPhones. If the message is sent from iMessage to Android then the delivery notification may not appear. If the previous messages show delivered but the recent ones don’t then you have been blocked.

What does the ‘Not Delivered’ error imply?

It often happens that the messages you have sent do not get delivered. The reason can be that maybe your wifi is not functioning well. If that is the case then you receive a ‘Not Delivered’ notification. You can try enabling SMS texts on your phone. Your iPhone will automatically retry to send that text using cellular data. If this does not work either then you may try sending it again by retyping it. If it still fails to get a reply then you may have been blocked. To resend an iMessage text as an SMS on receiving a ‘Not Delivered’ text follow these steps:

• Step 1: When the text fails to deliver, you will see a red info icon. Click on it.
• Step 2: A dialogue box appears. Tap on ‘Send as Text Message’
• Step 3: Then your device you resend that text. Once the text is delivered that ‘Not delivered’ note will disappear.

The call is diverted to voicemail, then you have been blocked 

The simplest way to find out if you have been blocked is to call that person. Once you call that person it rings once and then the call is diverted to voicemail. Note that the phone does ring but just once. You can leave a message if you are doubtful that they have blocked you. But that message is sent to a different section of the phone called ‘Blocked Messages.’ The other person does not get any notification that you have texted them or tried to call them or that a voicemail has been sent. They will only be able to discover your texts when they open the blocked messages section.

What if you were blocked on WhatsApp?

These days WhatsApp is the most popular app to communicate with your friends and family. Firstly sharing multimedia is convenient. Secondly, texts are sent way faster and they are end-to-end encrypted. You can put ‘Status’ to share memories with your contacts and a lot more. You can keep a profile picture and a bio about yourself as well. Also, a name that you have saved according to your liking also appears beside your name. In case your name is not saved on their device, they can figure out your number using that name.

Although if you have been blocked by the other person you will not be able to see their status, last seen, or profile picture. You will not be able to see their WhatsApp calls, messages, or status updates either. Texts Are Not Delivered

Once you are blocked on WhatsApp, you will be sent but they are never delivered to the other side. This setting can be changed from the ‘Last seen and online’ tap on the settings page. You can change it to ‘who can see my last seen’ or ‘who can see when I’m online.’ This is the reason why ‘Last Seen’ solely cannot act as a deciding factor if you have been blocked or not.

Calls and Status

If you have been blocked then you cannot call that person. It often happens that because of network issues WhatsApp calls do not go through. Hence, it cannot give you proper confirmation. Although if you are not able to call them at all, even when the network range is good. Then you are blocked. Also, you cannot see their Status in the status bar of WhatsApp. However, even if the number has blocked you, your contact info will still be there on their WhatsApp window. Contact info does not disappear unless they are deleted from the device itself.

How to know if you have been blocked?

They remain the same way they were even when you are blocked. The other cannot see your ‘Last seen’, ‘Online status’, your status, or any text that you have sent after they blocked your contact.
