It is the most commonly used system for transcribing or spelling Chinese sounds. Google pinyin is developed and made public by ‘Google china’ on April 4, 2007. It was made available on Windows, Android, Linux, and iOS (mac OS).

As we have already discussed that Google keyboard has nearly 500 languages, Chinese is one among them. We have two styles available in Chinese(Pinyin) language with the Google keyboard. One is ‘Simplified’ and the other is ‘Traditional’. While most of us use simplified, it is hard to use traditional keyboards. Traditional keyboards have everything detailed, and a user cannot go with it unless he has an in-depth knowledge in that language. Simplified keyboard is always the best one.

With android mobiles, it is very easy to set up a Google pinyin keyboard and go with it. When you don’t have a Google keyboard already installed in your mobile, please install it from the Playstore. Follow the steps below to use Google pinyin keyboard on android mobiles.

  • 1. Click settings.
  • 2. Scroll down until you get to “languages and input”, click on that.
  • 3. click on ‘languages’ and then click on the ‘Add a language’ option.
  • 4. Scroll down until you get Chinese or you can search for that in the search bar, select the first option, and again select the first option and you are ready to go.

Devices with iOS like iPhone, iPad, iPod and etc., do not have an in-built Google pinyin keyboard. If an iOS user wants to install it then he need to get it in the App store. Or click the link below to get that app from App store.

On the other hand, iOS provide inbuilt keyboard. In which we can add additional languages and thus type in that language. In the same way, we can use pinyin keyboard in the iPhone’s keyboard just by following the steps mentioned here.

  • 1. In your apple device, Go to Settings.
  •  2. Select ‘General’.
  • 3. Tap on ‘keyboard’.
  • 4. Now, Select ‘Keyboards’.
  • 5. Tap on ‘Add new keyboards’.
  • 6. Search and select ‘Chinese (simplified)’.
  • 7.  Select the first option (Qwerty).
  • 8.  Now you have all set to go with pinyin input.  

How to use pinyin in windows?

Google pinyin input is not available with windows. However, we can type in Chinese (Pinyin). It is made available within the language settings of every window OS. To enable pinyin input in windows, follow the steps mentioned below.

  • 1. Click the Windows icon (start button) in the bottom-left.
  • 2. Click on settings.
  • 3. Find ‘Time and language’ and Click on it.
  • 4. Now, Select the regional language on the left menu.
  • 5. You’ll see a ‘+’ plus symbol. Tao, it to ‘Add a language’.
  • 6. Select ‘Chinese simplified’.
  • 7. Select the first option (Simplified keyboard).
  • 8.  Exit out of settings.
  • 9. Now to get the pinyin keyboard enabled, click on the “ENG” at the bottom-right of your screen and select Chinese simplified.
