What is pokémon black and white?

So Pokémon black and white are two different games and are more like two parts of a series. Developed by Game Freak for the Nintendo DS platform and published by Nintendo. Pokémon black and white were released on September 18, 2010, for Japan, where Nintendo has the biggest market. North America followed the release in Japan on March 6, 2011 and then in Australia on March 10, 2011.

The story is like all the Pokémon games, and you are a new Pokémon trainer in the Unova region. You can choose the gender of your trainer and even give it a name or even your name. The core story is the same as all Pokémon games. Train your Pokémon and evolve them by fighting with other trainers and Pokémon. All the while Team Plasma is trying to plot some evil plans to take over the Pokémon world and kick you out of the trainer’s list. In this series, you can catch 156 new Pokémons along with 5 from the previous installment; Pokémon Red and Blue.

Additional features

There are some additional features like a seasonal cycle, rotation battles, fully animated Pokémon sprites, and triple battles. Both Pokémon black and white mainly have the same plot, while both the games play independently. To complete the game, you need to trade Pokémon Pokedex between both the games, Pokémon Black and White.

Professor Oak created the Pokedex as a digital encyclopedia for a very effective tool for teaching the trainers in the Pokémon world. It gives stats about all Pokémon within the planet that’s contained in its database, however, it differs in how it acquires and presents information over the varied media. But Pokedex is also only given to a few Trainers at a time to people who are felt to have unexceptional skills and potential.

Both the people and critics who loved the gameplay upon the release loved Pokémon Black and White. Reviews were much more diverse for the game, and some critics said it was not very innovative. The sales number for the Japan release was one million pre-orders and became the fastest Nintendo DS titles.  Pokémon games combined with sales have reached 240 million copies, not counting spin-off games like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and more. Games such as Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, and Pokémon White 2, etc.

Pokémon black and white plot

Pokémon black and white plot

Unlike other Pokémon games, Pokémon Black and White are set-ups in Unova, which is based after New York City, unlike previous regions. Previous regions were Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh; based after Japanese cities. Junichi Masuda directed this idea after he traveled to the city to launch Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Castelia City is modeled after American city and you can notice the Brooklyn Bridge-style suspension bridge and the huge skyscrapers. Junichi Masuda also wanted to give players a sense of belonging to a community when on the streets.

There are large urban areas, a harbor, an airport, an amusement park, several bridges, and more in the Unova region. In the Unova region, there is a diversity of people who vary in occupation and skin color. This gives people a sense of belonging to the virtual world of Pokémon and makes the experience richer. The technology was not even close to today, but it gave a fantastic world of Pokémon.

The Japanese name for the region is “Isshu which is derived from the Japanese words “tashu” meaning “many kinds” and “isshu” meaning “one kind”. We see many people from different backgrounds and Pokémon up-close looks like only one kind of life from afar.

Story of pokémon black and white

Story of pokémon black and white

Like all the previous Pokémon games, Pokémon black and white gives linear storytelling experience to players. The main character of our story is a teenager trainer; girl/boy, depending on your choice and sat on a journey in the region of Unova to become the Pokémon master.

Beginning of Game

At the starting of the game, the player has to choose between three Pokémon. You have three basic Pokémon to choose from Snivy, Tepig, or Oshawott as your starter Pokémon as a small gift from Professor Juniper. They are green type, fire type, and water type Pokémon respectively. Our friends, Cheren and Bianca, are also rival Pokémon Trainers who sometimes battle with us. Bianca will choose the Pokémon with a type disadvantage, while Cheren will always choose the Pokémon with a type advantage against our Pokémon. Our primary objective throughout the game will be to obtain the eight Gym Badges of Unova. We have to train enough to challenge Elite Four and become the new Pokémon Champion.

Defeat the story’s main adversary force

And just like all the other Pokémon games, you will also have to defeat the story’s main adversary force. And as you must have guessed, we have to face Team Plasma alongside with the Knights Templar-esque group. Who claims that Pokémon are oppressed by humanity and seek to liberate them from their trainers. A young man grown-up with the Pokémon named N who leads Team Plasma sees them as friends and not as tools for sport. Several times in the game, we encounter N who have different claims. He claims that they will recognize him as Unova’s champion and will be able to convince the humans to part with their Pokémon after capturing legendary Pokémon to defeat the current champion, Alder. The legendary Reshiram and Zekrom Pokémon of the Unova region, N will capture Zekrom in Pokémon Black and Reshiram in Pokémon White.

Once we defeat the main adversary of the series i.e., Elite Four, we enter the Champion’s chamber. We find that N summoned a large castle that surrounds the Pokémon League and has defeated Alder, and they name him as the newest Pokémon Champion of the Unova region. Once we complete this challenge, N challenges us to take part in one final battle. When we find N, Reshiram in Pokémon Black and Zekrom in Pokémon White appear before us. We must capture the legendary Pokémon before we can challenge N.

After we defeat N

After we defeat N, he rethinks about this whole idea and motivation behind doing all that he did. Ghetsis storms the room and reveals his true master plan, to use N to ensure that he would be the only human left with control over Pokémon. He did this to rule over all the world. Ghetsis is arrested after defeating him and this allows Alder to resume his position as the Pokémon Champion of the Unova region.

After the confrontation with Ghestis, N thank us for helping him see his wrong view about the nature of the relationship between Pokémon and people. After all, this happens N leaves Castel and goes on his way after leaving the captured Pokémon.

Once Team Plasma is defeated, they assign us the task of finding the remaining Sages of Team Plasma by Looker. We also challenge the Elite Four and Alder once again, becoming the newest Pokémon Champion of the region of Unova. We also get access to the previous closed east part of the Unova region. The new region contains Pokémon from the previous games from the series.

Also, can visit new areas such as ultra-metropolitan Black City the home to powerful Pokémon trainers, and the White Forest home to humans and Pokémon living in harmony. We can also find a former Pokémon Champion Cynthia in the new region, and we can challenge her. An NPC (Non-playable character) named Shigeki Morimoto, after a programmer in the Game Freak studios. Even they find an Easter egg for the director of the Pokémon Heart Gold and Soulsilver games, can also be found and battled in the game.

What is a ROM?

ROM stands for Read-Only Memory. ROMs can be understood as computer files that contain a copy of our game or data. This data was stored on ROM chips or cartridges or used to contain the system’s firmware in the old arcade game’s motherboard. But nowadays, the term ROM is used for emulations for the various emulators. However, the actual ROM was used for loading games from a chip or those old and bulky cartridges. ROM which copies ROM images to hardware, or the ROM cartridges.

As far as you are concerned, we use ROM for game files to be run from a software piece, which acts as an intermediate between your smartphone or PC and your target gaming console.
