The software has a very high success rate and a very simple procedure that you can follow with ease.

What is rooting?

Rooting is the process by which you remove the restrictions placed on your phones by the manufacturers. Although these restrictions were put in place mainly for its safety, they do limit the device’s functionality. Hence, by rooting, you can use your device in ways you could not have used earlier. Consequently, a lot of people favor rooting their devices over using conventional phones.

Perks of rooting

1. Custom Kernel and ROM

This is one of the best ways to get your device to work better. There are a variety of Kernels and ROMs that are meant for specific purposes. So you can even flash one that is meant for gaming. Using a custom Kernel or ROM will really enhance your user experience.

2. New skins

You are probably tired of that boring old look of your smartphone’s interface. Granted, you can change it to an extent with some apps. But you can never match the degree to which people with rooted phones modify theirs. So, if you want to check out new skins, then rooting your phone is a good way to go.

3. New apps

It is common knowledge that people with rooted phones enjoy apps that other people can’t get their hands on. But it does not stop there. They can download the apps that you have to pay for in a conventional phone. Moreover, they even enjoy free versions of premium apps.

4. Ad-free

Every app experience is always disturbed by some stupid ad. It is rather annoying, and people don’t actually prefer them. And if you are one of them, then root your phone to get an ad-free version of it.

5. Better battery and performance

Rooted phones get rid of a lot of unnecessary background processes. Moreover, you can also uninstall the pre-installed apps that you previously could not. Hence, the processor has more space to handle a lot of other stuff, thus increasing your phone’s performance. As a result, your phone will be left with a lot of juice.

Downsides of rooting

1. Loss of warranty

This is the first and foremost result that you will have to face if you have decided to root your device. Since you are willingly taking down the restrictions the company put on your phone, you are also putting your device at risk from security threats. Hence, you will automatically be forfeiting all the rights you have to its warranty and other services.

2. Some apps won’t support rooted phones

There are a bunch of apps that only work if your smartphone has a certain level of safety. Generally, these are apps that handle money transactions. And since your device now lacks certain security protocols, it will not support some apps.

3. Chance of becoming a brick

When the software of a smartphone becomes so messed up that it won’t even turn on, it is called a brick. Rooting is essentially, messing around with the system files of the phone. And if anything goes wrong, there is always a chance that it can end up a brick. This is probably the worst consequence you can face. So, keep it in mind before making the decision to root your device.

Pre-rooting procedures

1. Backing up data

If no one has told you yet, then know now. Rooting will wipe your device’s memory clean. Hence you need to back up every piece of data you consider important. Generally, people tend to use cloud services to upload all their info ranging from contacts to video files or documents. But if the internet speed at your area is not at par, then stick to moving everything to your PC.

2. Making sure that your computer has the right drivers

You can say that drivers are the files that allow the hardware components of your device to interact with its software systems, especially the OS. And when rooting is considered, your PC needs to relay certain information into and out of your phone. So, it needs specific drivers for that.

For Samsung devices, such drivers are only available over Windows OS. But when it comes to other models such as Google Pixel, drivers will be available for Windows, Linux, and Mac platforms. All you need to do is, look for the files with the help of your browser and download a suitable one to install.
